# How can I change the line endings in BabelEdit?

BabelEdit stores files with **local file endings**:

* **LF** (LineFeed) on macOS and Linux
* **CRLF** (CarriageReturn + LineFeed) on Windows

If you work in a **mixed environment** with Windows and macOS or Linux, configure your version control system to convert between different styles. See our tutorial: [How to handle line endings in git](https://www.codeandweb.com/tutorials/how-to-handle-line-endings-in-git.md)
