# How can I save changes in my JSON files? There's only an Excel/CSV export option!

To save your changes, simply click **Save project** in BabelEdit - all translation edits will be written directly to the original JSON files defined in the **[Configure Languages](https://www.codeandweb.com/babeledit/documentation/configure-languages.md)** dialog.

Project-specific metadata (like comments, _Approved_ flags, and settings) is saved separately in a `.babel` file.

Note: The **Export/Import** feature is intended for the exchange with translators, not for saving local changes.
