What is a perpetual license? What will happen in 1 year?
What is a perpetual license?
A perpetual license is a one-time purchase that grants you the right to use a specific version of the software forever. Unlike subscription models that require ongoing payments, the software does not stop working when the support period ends.
All our Single User Licenses and Volume Licenses are perpetual.
We offer two variants:
- 1-Year License – includes technical support and all updates (major and minor releases) published within 12 months of purchase.
- Lifetime License – includes technical support and all future updates, with no time limit.
What happens after 1 year? (1 year license)
You keep using the software
- Your license never expires.
- You may continue using the version you purchased, plus any updates released during your 12-month update period.
- No additional payments are required to keep using these versions (except for Translation Credits in BabelEdit, which are sold separately).
Updates and support changes
- Updates: After the 12-month period, new versions are no longer included. To access them, you can purchase an update.
- Support: Technical support is only included during the initial 12 months.
