# I've entered my license key, but now it’s asking for an "old license key"!

You've entered an **upgrade license key**, which is meant to renew an existing _Single User_ or _Volume license_. It cannot be used on its own.

Please enter the original license key as the "old license key". Once both keys are linked, you won't be prompted for the old key again.
