How did TexturePacker help you with your development?

All of the GUI elements and team icons in NBA: King of the Court 2 are atlassed with TexturePacker. Combining lots of small textures into larger textures that are power-of-two on a side, provided several memory, performance, and organizational benefits.

What are your favorite TexturePacker features?

Since we use the Unity 3D engine, TexturePacker's support for Unity's data format is great. The user interface is intuitive, and it has plenty of options to meet various needs.

How did PhysicsEditor help with your development?

NBA: King of the Court 2 makes extensive use of 2D texture "cut-outs" in a 3D world. All of the teammates, opponents, unique city backgrounds, tutorial courts, and sponsored court environments were built by applying PhysicsEditor to 2D textures.

What are your favorite PhysicsEditor features?

The ability to export to XML is handy, so that we can process the results of our PhysicsEditor session in a custom tool.

Any tips and tricks you want to share with the community?

  • With Unity 3D, uncheck "Allow rotation", since NGUI doesn't recognize rotation of sprites in an atlas
  • Padding and Extrude options should be mutually exclusive
