I already am using TexturePacker already two years. It helped me a lot with optimising my assets for performance. TexturePacker really does a great job by making sure that the space in the Spritesheet is optimally used.
My absolute favorite is the command line interface. This makes my life as a developer lot easier. I only have to cut out the original PNG's and using my script the Spritesheets are automatically generated with predefined settings. And this can easily be integrated into Xcode as well if you need it.
TexturePacker is as far as I know the best tool for the job. Use the best tools so you can spend more time on coding the actual game.
