Single User Licenses

Single User Licenses are designed for individuals and allow the installation of a product on up to 2 computers, as long as only one person is using the license.

At the beginning of 2023, we conducted a license review and discovered that a significant number (almost 1/3!!!) of the active users were obviously not following these terms. Although we would have preferred not to enforce the single-use policy, it seems we have no other choice.

Please note: The terms for single-user licenses have been in place since 2012. We do not restrict or limit the use of the license. Our goal is simply to ensure that licenses are used in compliance with these terms.

To address this issue, we are now checking usernames for similarity and only allowing activation if one of these conditions is met:

  1. It's the only activation: If you're activating the license on a single computer, we don't mind the username. Feel free to use any name you like! — e.g. Batman)
  2. Both usernames fuzzy-match the license owner's name: Activating on a 2nd computer is hassle-free when both usernames are similar to the license owner's name. — e.g. bwayne, BruceWayne when the account owner is Bruce Wayne
  3. Both usernames are similar but don't match the license owner's name: No worries! If you're activating on a 2nd computer and both usernames are similar to each other, even if they don't match the license owner's name, it's all good. — e.g. Bat Man, batman when the account owner is Bruce Wayne
  4. Requesting an exception for non-matching usernames: We understand that sometimes you might need to use different names that don't match. Just reach out to us and ask for an exception, and we'll be happy to help you out! — e.g. BatMan Bruce.Wayne

Remember, we're here to support you and make your experience as friendly as possible. If you have any concerns or need assistance, don't hesitate to contact us!
